The PCGS 2020 Quarter Quest Collect and Win Prizes

Due to our temporary office closure, the below competition guidelines are subject to change.

In order to give back to our community during these uncertain times, we will be repurposing the Weir Farms and American Samoa W-Quarter bounties into a series of online giveaways. There will be no First Discovery for Weir Farms or American Samoa. First Week and Early Find® pedigrees will still be available.

PCGS is happy to announce the latest hunt for modern numismatic rarities with the 2020 PCGS Quarter Quest just in time for the Great American Coin Hunt and National Coin Week. This program is designed to engage numismatists from around the country to cherrypick the elusive West Point minted quarters from circulation. PCGS graded 2019-W quarters were seen in auction with soaring prices with collectors taking to the PCGS Set Registry® to compete for the highest ranked set.

In addition to being another set of circulating West Point minted rarities, these coins will feature a first for U.S. Quarters, a “V75” privy mark denoting the 75th anniversary of World War II.

The first qualifying 2020-W quarters of each release certified by PCGS will be attributed with the famous “PCGS First Discovery” pedigree. Additionally, any qualifying 2020-W quarters submitted within the first week after the PCGS First Discovery will receive a “First Week of Discovery” pedigree. After that 7-day period, any qualifying 2020-W quarters certified within 45 days after the PCGS First Discovery will receive an Early Find® pedigree in our new Early Find® label.

These limited pedigrees will be available for qualifying submissions of each of the five 2020-W America The Beautiful Quarters: National Park of American Samoa in American Samoa, Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut, Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve in U.S. Virgin Islands, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont, Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas.

Terms & Conditions

Reward

  • The submitter of the first received and certified 2020-W quarter of each design will receive the above listed reward for that design via check.
  • Only one unique PCGS First Discovery pedigree label will be available*

    * Tie-breaker: if multiple coins are submitted on the day of the first submitted all qualifying coins will receive a PCGS First Discovery pedigree label and the reward will be split equally amongst the qualifying submitters. All “PCGS First Discovery” pedigrees are limited to one per submitter.

  • PCGS defines PCGS First Discovery as the first coin submitted to, and certified by, PCGS.
  • Rewards are for being the first individual to submit the first qualifying 2020-W quarter of each design, not for the coin itself. All coins submitted will be returned to the submitter.
  • The $2,000 reward is available only to PCGS Collectors Club members and PCGS Authorized Dealers in good standing.
  • PCGS First Discovery pedigree is limited to 1 per customer, additional qualifying coins within the submission will be assigned the First Week of Discovery or Early Find® pedigrees.

Mandatory Eligibility Information

To be eligible for the any of the 2020-W pedigrees, submission packages must be clearly marked in black ink on all sides of the shipping package with the term, “FD20.”

Boxes and packages without being clearly delineated with “FD20” will not be eligible for special labels or rewards, no exceptions.

Additionally, please notate First Week or Early Find® on the submission form in order to qualify for the label and pedigree program for Quarter Quest 2020.

The submission form needs to be checked off “Other” in the Service Level Section and notate “FD20”. If not notated, these coins will default to our Modern Service Level of $16 and not qualify for First Discovery, First Week of Discovery or Early Find® special labels.

Not available in conjunction with any other submission, special or label (i.e. First Strike Flag, other PCGS Special Labels or PCGS Standard Blue).

Qualifying Pedigrees

PCGS First Discovery Pedigree:
  • The “PCGS First Discovery” pedigree is awarded to the first submitter(s) that arrive at the PCGS offices for each of the released 2020-W quarters above.
  • The “PCGS First Discovery” coins will receive PCGS Gold Shield service that includes Gold Shield NFC Technology at no additional charge (Gold Shield is normally $5 per coin in addition to the grading fees).
  • All “PCGS First Discovery” pedigrees are limited to one per submitter, if multiple coins of the same type are submitted the following coins on the submission will receive “First Week of Discovery” Pedigrees.
First Week of Discovery Pedigree:
  • The “First Week of Discovery” pedigree is awarded to all qualifying submissions that arrive within the following 7 days after the PCGS First Discovery has been found.
  • Coins that qualify for “First Week of Discovery” will receive a standard blue PCGS label and a pedigree.
  • The “First Week of Discovery” pedigrees have no quantity limits.
Early Find® Pedigree & Label:
  • The Early Find® pedigree is awarded to all qualifying submissions that arrive after the “First Week of Discovery” pedigree is nullified for the following 38 days after the PCGS First Discovery has been found (or 45 days from PCGS First Discovery).
  • Coins that qualify for Early Find® will receive the new PCGS Early Find® label and a pedigree.
  • The Early Find® pedigrees have no quantity limits.
  • No 2020-W quarters will be given a pedigree after the 45-day Early Find® period expires.

Eligibility will be determined with a shipped postmark date prior to the specified PCGS cutoff date, eligibility will be solely determined by PCGS.
