PCGS Set Registry Update

One of the finest films ever made was Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Casablanca is a city in Morocco, which was a French Protectorate. It was rebuilt in 1755 due to an earthquake. The name ad-Dār al-Bayḍāʾ is the Arabic moniker given to the city, which translates into "white house." Residents still refer to the city as “Casa,'' which is a shortened version of the name Casablanca.

The plot of the 1942 movie of the same geographical name is set in a bar called Rick’s Cafe, serving as a gambling venue during World War II. Bogart plays Rick Blaine while Bergman portrays Ilsa Lund, Rick's former love interest. Ilsa asks for Rick's help for her and her husband from the pursuing Vichy French and the Nazis. Does Rick oblige?

Warner Brothers celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023, and the New Zealand Mint created a series of coins called “Mashups.” Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, The Tasmanian Devil, and Daffy Duck are substituted for movie characters in three different classic films. The 2023 Casablanca coin is part of the PCGS Registry Set titled Niue Colorized Looney Tunes $5 Silver 2 Oz. Warner Brothers 100th Anniversary Set, Proof (2023).
