PCGS Encapsulates GSA Hoard Silver Dollar Coins in Special Holder

PCGS has created a special oversized holder so the unique GSA Hoard Silver dollar coins can be PCGS-certified and still be encapsulated in the original GSA holder. Customers can now choose how they would like their GSA Hoard coins encapsulated.

Submit GSA Carson City Silver Dollars in the original GSA case and PCGS will grade and encapsulate the coin (and case) in our special oversized holder. Please follow these instructions when submitting these coins to PCGS:

  • Submit coins in the original, hard case GSA holder.
  • Select the Standard Service (Gold Shield not available).
  • Select "Grading" for the Type of Submission.
  • Select Service Level (coins can be submitted under Economy tier or higher).
  • Mark the "Other" box and list GSA Oversized holder
  • Calculate the Oversized Holder Fee in the Fee Calculation Section (there is a $20 fee per coin for GSA coins encapsulated in the oversized holder).

*If you do not wish to have your GSA Hoard coins in our special oversized holder, please notate "PCGS Standard GSA label" on your submission form. You will not be charged an additional $20 per coin for the oversized holder. If you select this option, the coin will be encapsulated in the standard size holder.

For Crossover Submissions:

PCGS will not remove stickers/labels from GSA Hoard submissions certified from other third-party certification companies. If you would like to cross over your GSA Hoard coins, original packaging will not be salvaged and the coin will be graded by PCGS and encapsulated in our standard holder with the GSA designation. Please follow these instructions when submitting these coins for Crossover Service:

  • Submit coins in the original, hard case GSA holder.
  • Select either Standard or Gold Shield.
  • Select "Crossover" for the Type of Submission.
  • Select Service Level (coins can be submitted under Economy tier or higher).
  • Please follow additional Crossover submission instructions found here.
  • Coins that do cross will also be charged a Guarantee Premium fee*
  • GSA Crossover coins will be encapsulated in the standard size holder (will include the GSA designation).

*The Guarantee Premium is equal to 1% of the value of the coin in its final grade. The value of the coin is determined by the PCGS Price Guide value for that grade or the Declared Value of the coin, if the Price Guide value is not available. The minimum amount for the Guarantee Premium is $5. PCGS reserves the right to make the final determination of the coin’s value.

You must be a PCGS Collectors Club member to submit directly to PCGS. To join the PCGS Collectors Club click here. For any other questions or concerns please contact Customer Service
