The world’s leading third-party coin grader has published more than 300 educational articles and press releases in 2023

(Santa Ana, California) – Professional Coin Grading Service (www.PCGS.com) continues leading the way in providing the public with free-access numismatic education, with more than 250 articles published in 2023. This results from at least one article being published on the PCGS News & Article feed during each regular day of business operation, with the overarching goal of delivering more expert-driven numismatic research articles to the public without a paywall.

“We have published nearly 270 educational articles on the PCGS News & Article feed, not to mention more than 50 press releases in 2023,” said PCGS Editor-in-Chief Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez. “This is an achievement that we are very proud of not only because of the sheer volume of content output but also because of the length and strength of what we are publishing. All of our articles are based on in-depth research by subject-area experts, and some cover topic areas seldom seen elsewhere online,” he said.

“But it’s not all about the seasoned writers – we are amplifying the voices of young numismatists, too. It’s been a mission of ours at PCGS to feature at least one young numismatist in each issue of PCGS Market Report, and we plan to keep loudly and proudly lifting young and underrepresented voices in the hobby.”

In the last year alone, PCGS has published a diverse range of articles running the gamut from major U.S. coin series such as Jefferson Nickels and Washington Quarters to more niche areas like World’s Fair and Exposition tokens and medals and Canadian silver dollars. The wide variety of written content published online is nothing new for PCGS, which has been publishing articles during each regular day of operation since 2020. This helped drive more than one six million people to PCGS.com in 2023, more than one million of whom read articles on the website.

Some articles have surpassed 100,000 pageviews, with “What Are 1957 $1 Silver Certificates Worth?” leading the way at nearly 125,000 hits. Meanwhile, several articles have attained more than a half-million reaches apiece on social media, with “The Scarce 1895-O Barber Dime” at 912,500. “Journey into World Coins” and “Spice it Up” reached 676,900 and 535,800, respectively.

PCGS plans to continue publishing a steady stream of educational content in 2024 and beyond. “Solid, vetted information is the main ingredient in educating the collector base and the general public about coins and other forms of money,” McMorrow-Hernandez added. “We will absolutely continue bolstering the educational content on PCGS.com and its many other free-access resources, including PCGS CoinFacts, to ensure everyone knows more about the many great things that make numismatics a wonderful hobby for all.”
