Ron Guth:

Kagin-7 is a variety of an undated $2.50 gold piece issued by Christian Bechtler of Rutherford, North Carolina. On this variety, the word CAROLINA spans the top of the reverse. Kagin-7 is exceedingly rare, with only two examples known: 1) the example illustrated above and 2) a second example in the National Numismatic Collection at the Smithsonian Institution. The only auction appearance of this variety was in a 2017 auction conducted by Kagins, in which the #1 specimen listed above sold for $58,162.50.
