Ron Guth:

Judd 247 is an 1859 Half Dollar pattern designed by Anthony Paquet. The obverse features Miss Liberty seated facing left, steadying a fasces in her right hand and a shield in her left hand (this obverse was paired with four different reverses to create a variety of patters for the consideration of Mint officials). The reverse is a departure from the normal style in that it lacks the usual eagle and, instead, mimics the wreath design of the regular issue Half Dimes and Dimes from 1860 on. Neither side of this pattern was adopted for the Half Dollar, thus the only way to see this design is to enter the world of pattern collectin.

Judd 247 is an extremely rare variety. We know of at least four demonstrably different examples, with perhaps one or two more known to exist.
