Jaime Hernandez:

The Gold $2 1/2 Proof Quarter Eagle is extremely rare. The reported mintage is about 35 examples originally being struck. However, there are probably less than 20 coins or even fewer than 15 in existence. This coin is rare in any condition and collectors should not be picky when trying to obtain an example of this issue. As examples of this issue seldom appear in the coin market.
