David Akers (1975/88): Proofs have appeared at auction with greater frequency than one might expect from a mintage of only 25 pieces. Since I have seen several deceptive first strike Uncs., it is possible that a few of the proofs sold at auction in the past were actually first strike Uncs. rather than true proofs.
