Ron Guth:
The 1893 Half Dollar is no more nor no less rare than most of the other dates in the 1890's. For example, the Mint State profile of the 1893 is very similar to the profiles of the 1892-O, 1892-S, 1894, and 1895. Each is semi-scarce in MS63 to MS64, scarce in MS65, and rare in MS66 or better. The finest 1893 Half Dollar is a blazing white PCGS MS67 - a coin which also holds the record price for the date.
The 1893 Half Dollar usually comes with a crisp strike, booming, frosty luster, and good eye appeal. It is an excellent choice for both type and date collectors.
