The period from 1792 to 1859 features perhaps the most diverse group of pattern coins in the Mint's history. Included are an eclectic mix of prototype coins, restrikes (official and private), and die trials in a variety of different alloys. Included are the first 1792 Patterns, the Gobrecht Dollars of 1836-1839, the unusual, hand-made "Ring" Dollars of 1849,and the popular 1856 Flying Eagle Cents, and many more odd and unusual creations.
